A small-scale hotel where personal attention and a sense of home come first
Bed, Bites & Business is a unique place to unwind in the raw, historic Katendrecht. Since opening in 2020, owner Monique Gullit has made the boutique hotel synonymous with exclusive hospitality and you feel that right away. It’s a place for city trips, museum visits, cruises or a few days in Rotterdam. Also for business meetings with lunch, dinner or drinks on the terrace by the Rijnhaven.
When does a guest truly feel at home here?
Monique: “That starts the moment you walk in. We open the door and take time to hear why people are here. Then we guide them to their room and share tips that match their plans. That personal contact makes the difference. It’s warm and relaxed, but well organized. We consciously don’t use digital keys. We prefer to be present and involved.”
What makes you happiest as a host?
“When guests are surprised the moment they step inside. The building is over a hundred years old and has character. The rooms match what guests saw online and the view over the Rijnhaven often does the rest. That enthusiasm gives energy. Many guests return and choose a different room, so it feels like a new stay. We also think a lot about sustainability. Auping beds, LED lighting, organic coffee and tea, water-saving taps and a circular approach. Comfort and conscious choices go hand in hand here.”
Who do you attract on Katendrecht?
“A mix of people. Many business guests staying one night, but also international tourists exploring Rotterdam. We also see cruise passengers, parents visiting their studying children, guests who don’t want to travel far after dinner, and people using Rotterdam as a base to explore the Netherlands. We regularly host film crews or companies for shoots. With seven rooms and two meeting spaces, you can even rent the entire hotel. That makes it attractive for small groups.”
