Natural florist for sustainable bouquets, floral styling and arrangements.

MK stands for Marit Kuypers, the creative mind behind this flower shop on Deliplein. She has been here from the start. Her shop is also her studio, where she works with a clear vision: doing everything herself, from idea to final result. She even has her own picking garden and a delivery service. Her work is sustainable, personal and always surprising.

Everything seems focused on sustainability. Is that right?
Marit: “Absolutely. I only work with nature-friendly and organic flowers. From May to October they are unsprayed or certified organic. In winter I add sustainably grown varieties. It’s better for biodiversity and it gives me a more original range, with flowers you don’t see everywhere and colors that stand out.”

How did that unique range develop?
“I supply weekly to restaurants, hotels, offices and museums, and I make many funeral and wedding bouquets. Especially for weddings, people have specific wishes, like a dahlia in a special shade. That led me to start my own picking garden, and it turned out to be a great move. I developed my own style: loose, airy and full of movement. Never stiff or standard.”

You sell more than only flowers, right?
“That’s right. I dry many flowers from my garden. I also sell vases, pots, accessories and plants. And I’m slowly returning to my first love: installations. Long-lasting pieces made from natural materials, like wall objects and hanging dried-flower works. Everything has a personal touch. I’m happy to give advice, but you can also create something yourself. Anything goes, as long as it’s personal.”
