In September 2022, Gommaar, a born host, opens Proeflokaal. His idea was simple. A warm place where people come together, feel at home and return for the food and drinks. Not only for meetings, but also for dining, toasting and good conversations. Atmosphere, taste and customization comes first.
So… not a restaurant?
Gommaar: “It depends on what you need. It’s a meeting venue and a restaurant. Everything is private and tailored. We set up the space the way you want. Brainstorm, drinks, private dinner with your team or family. It feels like home, with good food and service. That’s what people look for.”
Can you just walk in?
“Not by default. We’re not open daily for the public. About four to six times a year we host culinary events you can book. We like doing those ourselves too. Then everyone is welcome. We share dates through our newsletter and Instagram. Recently we hosted ‘Piep Gourmand’, where young talent created a three-course menu. A real treat.”
Why do people come back?
“Hospitality, the interior and the food. We hear that a lot. We’re small, but we go for a strong experience. We think along, arrange everything and make each gathering stand out.”
